"You call me 'Teacher and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet." I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Thoughts on the Verse
Before Jesus went to the cross, he showed his disciples what it means to live in a cross-centered community, he washed his disciple's feet. He did it knowing they would run from him, disown him, betray him and deny him. And this what he also requires of us to do what he did.
Prayer
O God, I want to be like my Teacher and your Son. I renounce my self-seeking ways so that I can genuinely serve your others, even those who may not be kind to me. Please give me the strength, courage and patience to live up to these convictions and more perfectly reflect the character of Christ. In the name of Jesus, my Lord, I pray. Amen.
